How Do You Know If Your Towing Need Is An Emergency Situation?

Posted on

Stranded, broken down, frustrated—any time you end up on the side of the road mid-trip in your vehicle because something goes wrong, it is not a fun situation. You probably already know that you can call on a towing service any time you need help as a driver because your vehicle has failed you. However, there is another level of towing services available for motorists who find themselves in desperate situations. This leads to the primary question: what exactly constitutes a call for an emergency towing service? Here is a look at some of the signs that your problem is an emergency situation.

Are you in a dangerous area?

A dangerous area can be defined as a place where there is a high rate of crime or a place where you are physically in danger because of traffic or not having a good place to pull your car off the road. For instance, if you are stranded on a main interstate and there is very little space on the shoulder of the road for your vehicle, this could be considered an emergency situation.

Do you have children with you?

Having children with you can make the situation a bit more of an emergency when you are stranded. It can be harder to keep children contained in a vehicle for a long period, and kids can be more vulnerable to heat and cold. Likewise, if you have someone with you that has a disability or specific health concern, it may be a reason to call an emergency towing service for help.

How is the weather?

Sometimes, it is the weather that puts you in an emergency situation. Maybe it is freezing cold outside, and your car is broken down so you have no heat. Perhaps it is really hot outside, and it is even hotter out on the blacktop with no air to keep you cool. Storms are also something that can make a situation more dire. For instance, if you are stranded in the middle of a snowstorm and the roads are progressively getting worse or there are severe thunderstorms moving through the area.

Do you have personal risks that require immediate attention?

Beyond your passengers, it is important to keep in mind that you need to look out for yourself. If you are prone to panic attacks when surrounded by heavy traffic, for example, this could be a reason to call for emergency assistance.
